Brandi Brandt was the quintessential California rock goddess of the 1980s and early 90s, a Playboy model and actress with big hair best known for marrying Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx.

Today, Brandt sits in a jail cell inside the concrete, fortress-like Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in downtown Los Angeles awaiting extradition to Australia.

Brandt is accused of playing a role in a brazen US-Australia cocaine importation syndicate that hid packages of the drug on Qantas and United Airlines passenger planes that flew from California to Sydney and, after landing in the harbour city, were collected by employees of an airline catering company.

Brandt's former boyfriend and co-conspirator, Crusty Demons motorcycle stuntman Rusty Setser, is also locked up in a MDC cell awaiting extradition to Australia.

Both avoided lengthy court battles in Los Angeles by consenting to be extradited.
