Cross Point Church pastor Pete Wilson resigns after 14 years
Pete Wilson, who founded Cross Point Church 14 years ago, said he resigned as senior pastor of the Nashville-area megachurch because he is tired, broken and in need of rest.
Wilson, 42, announced that he was leaving during his Sunday morning sermon.
He thought that stepping aside was in the best interest of the church, according to a statement released later that day.
"Leaders who lead on empty don’t lead well," Wilson said.

Wilson started Cross Point Church in 2002 with a small group of people that met at Gower Elementary in Bellevue. By 2013, the megachurch was named one of America's fastest growing churches by Outreach Magazine.
Today, the church says it serves almost 7,500 people every Sunday and has six locations throughout the Nashville area, including in Bellevue, Dickson, Franklin and Mt. Juliet.
